100% Grenache | Alc: 15% – Smooth and Supple
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Rhone, France

Winemaker’s notes:
Giraud 2012 Premices Châteauneuf-du-Pape 100% Grenache cuvee is a custom collaboration between Marie Giraud and Eric Solomon using the young vine fruit of Domaine Giraud.

Critical Acclaim:
“The 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Premices, which had just been bottled at the time of this tasting, has fantastic ripeness and offers up beautiful Provencal notes of sweet blackberry, currants, toasted spice, cured meats and earthy notes to go with full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. Rich, fleshy and textured, it’s another knockout Grenache-dominated blend from this estate. Drink now-2020.” 91-93 Points – The Wine Advocate

“Brilliant ruby. Exotic raspberry preserve, incense and lavender aromas are brightened by vibrant minerality. Offers sweet red berry liqueur and floral pastille flavors of very good freshness and clarity, picking up an exotic blood orange quality with air. Finishes sweet, bright and long, with smooth, slow-building tannins.” 90-92 pts – Stephen Tanzer’s IWC

“The young vines provide the fruit for the 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Prémices, which debuted in the previous vintage. It has a lightly dusty feel, with taut cherry fruit flecked with sandalwood and rooibos tea notes. A majority of the bottling is aged in cement vat, as is most of the red wine here, with a third aged in used 350-liter barrels.” Wine Spectator
