77% Grenache, 15% Mourvedre, 8% Syrah | Alc: 14.5% – Big and Bold
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Rhone, France

Winemaker’s notes:
Janasse 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape is an outstanding effort, its nose of forest floor, cassis and tapenade followed by a juicy and forward mid-palate, infused with herbs and an alchemical dose of the famous Sabon savoir faire.

Critical Acclaim:
“Looking pretty close to the 2009 and 2010 in terms of quality, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape has slightly less Grenache than prior vintages, with 15% Mourvedre, 8% Syrah and the rest Grenache. Violets, underbrush, sweet black raspberry and cassis all flow from this medium to full-bodied, pure and elegantly styled effort. Showing plenty of fruit, good acidity and terrific purity, it should evolve gracefully for 12-15 years. Drink 2015-2027” 92-94 Points – The Wine Advocate

“Opaque ruby. Highly perfumed scents of fresh blueberry, potpourri and woodsmoke, with a suave floral quality emerging with air. Sweet dark berry and spicecake flavors gain weight with air, picking up a sexy floral pastille nuance and a touch of allspice. Impressively fresh and energetic, with a lingering note of dark berry preserves on the supple, gently tannic finish.” 91-93 pts – Stephen Tanzer’s IWC
