Winemaker’s notes:
Vissoux 2017 Fleurie Poncie is very representative of AOC Fleurie, the Queen of the Beaujolais Crus, this cuvee bears the stamp of the terroir of Poncié. The silky tannins and floral aromas give the wine a feminine personality, packed with finesse and suavity. This is a thirst quenching wine, giving immediate pleasure, suited to a wide variety of dishes.
Cellar 3 to 8 years, peak between 3 and 5 years. Best served at 14 °C.

Pairs well with a wide range of dishes such as terrines, and delicate white meats.

Critical Acclaim:
“The 2017 Fleurie Poncié hails from a southeast-facing, higher-altitude site that’s typically quite cool, and that’s reflected in its bright, perfumed bouquet of raspberries, rose petals and Griotte cherries, with suggestions of darker fruits emerging with air. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, pure and nicely concentrated, with fine tannins, a bright line of acidity and good length on the finish.” 93 Pts – Wine Advocate

“All the perfumed character and structure to be expected in a wine from this appellation are exhibited in this full, dense wine. Its juicy character is still developing, but it is doing so in partnership with fresh berry flavors. Drink from 2020. ” 92 Pts – Wine Enthusiast

“The Poncié vineyard from the Chermette’s sits up in the steepest section of Fleurie, not far from the well-known la Madone, and is quite different in terroir from the les Garants bottling from the family. The 2017 Poncié is the first Cru from this vintage that I have tasted and it is lovely, offering up an excellent aromatic constellation of black cherries, dark berries, fresh herb tones, plenty of smokiness and a lovely base of minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and youthfully tangy, with a sappy core of fruit, fine focus and grip and a long, moderately tannic and very well-balanced finish. This has more mid-palate amplitude than the utterly classic 2016 version, but is not quite as powerful as the 2015 example. The 2017 Poncié had been bottled only two weeks before my March visit, so my score may ultimately prove to be a tad conservative, once the wine has had a chance to fully re-settle after its mise. (Drink between 2021-2040)” 93 Pts – John Gilman
