Georges Vigouroux 2017 Château de Haute-Serre Cahors
Malbec, Merlot | Alc: 13.5%
Cahors, Sud-Ouest, Garonne et Lot, France
Beautiful deep color with purple reflections, the nose is fine, very evolving, filled with ripe, black fruits, with notes of eucalyptus and cocoa. The wood is melted and gives way to silky tannins, a wine of finesse and harmony. The mouth is racy thanks to the Malbec. Merlot, on the other hand, brings a touch of fruit and roundness which allows harmony between structure and finesse. An unforgettable wine.
Typical of the appellation, this Cahors can be savoured now or be cellared for a few years. It unveils subtle mineral notes and well-rounded tannins alongside flavours of plum, raspberry, cocoa, graphite and wood.
“From vineyards on a high plateau east of the city of Cahors, this wine is powerfully structured while having a fine, elegant backdrop. Jammy black fruits are restrained by tannins, giving density to the wine as well as layered acidity and spice. The wine needs more time, so wait until 2021.” 93 Pts – Wine Enthusiast Editors’ Choice
