The Walls 2018 Gaspard Syrah
100% Syrah | Alc: 14.5%
Red Mountain, Washington State
The Walls 2018 Gaspard Syrah – Legend has it that in 1224 a Knight named Gaspard, wounded and weary from the battles of the Albigensian Crusade, was given permission by the Queen of France to recover atop a granite peak in the storied Hermitage. Through with bloodshed, Gaspard became a hermit but was soon joined by others seeking similar refuge. Together, they began to tend the area’s mythical vines.
“An Hermitage-like nose of red and black fruits, spice, new leather, and bacon fat emerges from the 2018 Syrah Gaspard, another young, unevolved, yet incredibly promising Syrah that does everything right. With full-bodied richness, a stacked mid-palate, and incredible purity of fruit, it has plenty of rocky minerality and tannins on the finish. It needs lots of air if drinking any time soon, and it will ideally be given 2-4 years of bottle age. It’s going to keep for 10-15 years or more” 96 pts – Jeb Dunnuck (Platinum Medal)
