Penfolds 2015 Kalimna Bin 28 Shiraz
100% Shiraz | Alc: 14.5% – Supple and Smooth
Barossa Valley, Australia

Winemaker’s notes:
Vibrant, fresh and lively. Long, elongated tannins – sleek, slick and slender! Dark black-cherry fruit flavours, generous and more-ish! (And just why can’t we say Cherry Ripe!) Succulent; neither alcohol nor oak intrude. Unobtrusive acidity will ensure cellarability, should it (hopefully) be pursued.

Critical Acclaim:
“The 2015 Shiraz Kalimna Bin 28 has nose of crushed black currants and blueberries with subtle notes of licorice, tar, roses and tapenade. Medium to full-bodied, opulent and densely packed with black fruits and savory layers, it has a solid frame of rounded tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing long” 93 Pts – The Wine Advocate

“Toasted herb, crushed rock and dried violet aromas are precise, with plenty of focus to the laser beam of juicy red fruit flavors. Fresh earth, crushed pine needle and spice notes linger on the finish, where the tannins firm up. Drink now through 2027.” 91 Pts – Wine Spectator

“Though it bears the Kalimna name, this is a multi-regional blend from the McLaren Vale, the Barossa Valley, Padthaway, Wrattonbully and Robe. It’s also a cracking example of warm climate Shiraz, with deeply saturated colour and a vanilla and coffee bean nose. Plush and sleek, this has a fine line of acidity amid punchy dark cherry fruit and savoury tapenade, with a lick of creosote on the finish. The tannins are sweet and generous, giving a languid glycerol texture. Good length, nice drop.” 91 Pts – Decanter
