Description

Palacios Remondo 2011 La Montesa
70% Garnacha, 25% Tempranillo, 5% Mazuelo | Alc: 14% – Smooth & Supple
Rioja, Spain

Winemaker’s notes:
Ruby red in color with enticing aromas of cherries, long-stem strawberries, pomegranate juice and red grapefruit rind; this wine is silky on the palate with notes of Bing cherries, ripe nectarines and hints of Mediterranean aromatic herbs. Meant to enjoy now or age up to 10 years, this wine is very versatile and pairs well with flavorful cuisine.

Critical Acclaim:
“It’s interesting to compare the 2010 with the 2011 Finca La Montesa, which has a slightly different blend – 70% Garnacha, 25% Tempranillo and 5% Mazuelo – also sourced from the family vineyard La Montesa del Monte Yerga in Alfaro. It displays notes of ripe red fruit and spices in an elegant but in a slightly rustic way. The palate is round, with some tannins and ripe flavors. This is very good value.”  91 Pts – The Wine Advocate

“The little brother of Alvaro Palacios’ single-vineyard wines. A blend of 70% Garnacha, 25% Tempranillo and the rest Mazuelo, this shows just how pleasurable a blend can be, and the quality that Rioja Baja can give. Energetic, warm red fruits and firm tannins.”  91 Pts – Decanter
