Jim Barry 2013 The Lodge Hill Shiraz
100% Syrah/Shiraz | Alc: 14.5% – Big and Bold
Clare Valley, Australia

Winemaker’s notes:
Jim Barry 2013 The Lodge Hill Shiraz presents a bold inky red hue with a bright purple edge. On the nose a backdrop of lifted violet and floral aromas are complemented by bright notes of plum and blueberry. A luscious palate of blood plum, mulberry and cranberry are at the forefront. This drives through to chalky fine grained tannins supporting toasty oak on the back palate and demonstrating good length.

Critical Acclaim:
“Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2013 Shiraz The Lodge Hill is redolent of eucalyptus, Chinese five spice, blackberries, black cherries and pepper hints, then fills the medium to full-bodied palate with a good amount of chewy tannins and plenty of spicy black fruit before ending medium to long in the finish.” 90 Pts – The Wine Advocate

“Full crimson-purple; the back label proclaims that the Lodge Hill Vineyard is the highest in the Clare Valley at 440m (it isn’t), and the wine has cool-grown nuances in its bloodstream; jet black fruits have rivulets of licorice, pepper and spice with banks of fine, savoury tannins.” 93 Pts – Australian Wine Companion
