Chateau Suduiraut 2009 Sauternes (375mL)
93% Semillon and 7% Sauvignon Blanc | Alc: 14% – Sweet, Rich and Creamy
Sauternes, France

Winemaker’s notes:
Chateau Suduiraut 2009 Sauternes is deep light gold with profound, clearly-defined nose blending honey and white flesh acacia fruit. Highly seductive, imposing palate, full, closely-integrated, powerful. Wonderful balance and persistency.

Critical Acclaim:
“The 2009 is one of the greatest wines ever produced from the estate. It has a riveting bouquet of quince, honey, pear and a touch of clarified butter that is beautifully defined, offering scents of yellow flowers with continued aeration. It is a little heavier and more intense than its peers at this stage. The palate is beautifully balanced with perfectly judged acidity and immense purity. The finish offers crisp honey, quince and clementine notes laden with botrytis that is counterpoised by wonderful acidity. It possesses an unerring sense of completeness and composure that is irresistible. Bravo! Drink now-2050.” 98 Pts – Wine Advocate

Bright yellow-gold. Downright spectacular nose displays intense aromas of ripe pineapple, caramelized banana, dried mango, saffron and honey. Then rich, fat and opulent, with an almost decadent sweetness to its flavors of ripe citrus fruit, pineapple, papaya and minerals. Lively acidity gives this large-scaled and rather powerful wine a seamless quality and an almost light touch, and extends the flavors on the long, pure finish. Made from fruit harvested in just four days from September 17 through 20, in three successive tries This 2009 should age extremely well, and your grandchildren may enjoy it as much as you will. ” 93-96 Pts – Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar

“Barrel sample. Complex wine, packed with sweetness, apricots and the ripest, smooth honey. A fine wine, beautifully rich and ripe, finished with acidity. A great wine.” 97 Pts – Wine Enthusiast

As fine as the de Cosse Sauterne is, the Suduiraut takes it to the next level. I’ve been drinking this Sauterne for many years, and this is probably the best I’ve had from Suduiraut. The critics declare it a powerhouse that should last a good 40 or 50 years (if you can hold out!) – a riveting bouquet of quince, pineapple, mango and honey, it consummates your relationship with it by exploding in your mouth in a shower of decadent sweetness wrought with ripe citrus, papaya, quince, and that gorgeous botrytis.

For many this wine will be the finest Sauterne they’ll ever drink.

While labeled a dessert wine, it may be consumed with light fish dishes, pâtés, rich desserts, or – for the ultimate experience, a lovingly prepared lobe of Foie Gras.
