Delle Venezie, Northeast Italy
Winemaker’s notes:
Riff 2024 Pinot Grigio delle Venezie is a certified organic, vegan-friendly white wine from Alois Lageder, grown in Northern Italy’s limestone soils. It is crisp, dry, and medium-bodied, featuring aromas of green apple, pear, and citrus with a, minerally finish.
Fresh, lively, and precise, with notes of ripe pear, baked apple, white peach, and a hint of almond. Excellent with seafood (grilled shrimp, scallops), pasta with creamy or pesto sauces, poultry, and salads
RIFF is a project from the Alois Lageder winery, first produced in 2002. The name RIFF comes from the German word for reef, reflecting the ancient oceanic origins of the Dolomites. Where the rugged Northern Italian Alps now stand, there was once, 220 million years ago, an ocean filled with vibrant coral reefs. Today, the rock layers still hold hidden fossils, such as crabs, mussels, and the nautilus, telling stories of a bygone era. This symbolism is shown on the label through the use of the Fibonacci golden spiral. The grapes for Riff Pinot Grigio come from sustainably farmed vineyards in the Veneto region-at the foot of the Alps-where the Mediterranean-Alpine climate greatly influences its character.
